Cruising, a Day in the Life

Has this been a part of your bucket list ? I know it was huge part of mine. I’ve been on 5 cruises now and am planning on taking a Mediterranean cruise in the near future. Of course, before I took my maiden voyage, I was a little hesitant. What if questions popped up. I stopped myself in my tracks and declared “You only live once and the negatives weren’t going to stop me. ” Life is so precious and goes by quickly. I was turning 50 aboard this ship, damn it. Let the fun begin ! Once I started, I did not want to stop. It seems now is probably the best time to look into enjoying all this vacation has to offer ! The crowds will be smaller and the rates are down because of the circumstances we just went through with Covid 19. What’s not to love ?

It’s like a city on the ocean !

I’ll transport you to a typical day on a cruise ship, and by cruise ship, I mean the best I know, Royal Caribbean ! I start my day by going up on the top deck to breathe in the salt air and see where the heck we are. It is still early but there are a few people about the ship doing the same and planning their adventures for the day. There are SO many activities to choose from as we are all different in what we like. They don’t hesitate to make everyone happy. I’m an adventurous spirit so doing new and exciting things are what I’m looking for. My husband calls me the “Point of Purchase” display girl !! He’s the total opposite usually. He’s happy with the Same ole, Same ole ! Amazing we found each other. You know the opposites attract thingy.

I already see what I’ll do next. I feel like a kid in a candy store ! Yippee ! We start by eating at the buffet, and there is so much eating on this ship. I temper this with making sure I hit the gym almost every day ! This isn’t a chore as much as back home though as there is a gorgeous 180 degree breathtaking view all around of turquoise blue water. There is even boxing on board to get out your frustrations ! Crazy !

Today is a cruise at sea day and I can’t resist the music and dancing poolside ! Two things I love. Can’t help myself when there is a good beat. I’m learning a dance to ” Back it up ” as my husband takes a siesta in a pool chair. See, something for everyone. The waitstaff bringing the drink of the day is extremely attentive and learned my name so fast. Am I divulging something here ? While my husband slumbers, there is a Sexy Man contest going on. I’m taking snap shots and because of the sun, I take some pics of myself accidentally ( I hit the camera button and turned it on myself ! ) I missed the best parts ! Agh !

A day in the life

I look at the list of activities and sign up for the Flashmob training- synchonized dancing that happens with a group impromptu. We will be performing at 7pm in the Promenade in a few days and training starts today. Excited ! I meet my fellow passengers as we attempt to fumble through learning the dance steps. So fun ! Only an hour and I’m back to the pool deck to wake my hubby to eat again !

As we wander around the boat, I am madly in love and thanking God I didn’t let my reservations get the better of me. The What ifs we all seem to face.

Absolutely love this ! The middle of the ship was open air Central Park.
Can’t believe there is a carousel in the middle of the boat !
Dressing up Fancy

Fast forward to the Night Life ! We’re out dancing yet again. It was because of this cruise experience and the dance club aboard the ship called Bocados that made us fall in love with Salsa dancing. I gave Steve a present that Christmas to begin Salsa lessons for us both. He willingly went and we continued for almost 2 years, all because of this. Still not the best dancers I’ll admit but have a clue now !

The next day we arrived in St. Maarten ! Love that you don’t have to change rooms but go to completely different locations almost every day !

There are so many more adventures to show you but that will be in another post. I hope that coming along for the journey with me has helped you make the decision. It’s the best all in one vacation I know !
