Trips to die for !

Life is meant for good friends and great adventure ! There’s an expression that a mentor once told me, and it definitely sticks with me to this day. I do NOT want to tip-toe through life hoping to make it safely to death. I’m confident we were put here on this planet to make it better than when we first came. We’re here to take part in and enjoy the experience, and make at least one person happy along the way. No doubt middle age is as good a time as any to take stock of what you’ve done and accomplished in your life. We must figure out what more we’d like to do with our time now that we’re older and maybe a little wiser. Hence, the making of bucket lists.

Therefore, I will do my best to not only dream my dreams, but also live them. There are many items in my bucket list to explore. But whether you’re coming into a little more income or time in your schedule, these places deliver the right mix of adventure, and relaxing experiences to shake up your life a bit.

VENICE, the city of water, is the clearest it’s been in 60 years because of the lockdown due to Covid 19 I’m told. The fish can be seen and swans have returned. This is one of many places I’m planning to visit on my Mediterranean cruise, as soon as that opens up again. My plan is to walk in the area where my ancestors grew up. How surreal ! I’m so excited !

And Yes, I dare to go aboard ! I’ve been on 5 cruises beginning when I turned 50. I celebrated my birthday on the beautiful blue sea, and had the absolute time of my life ! I’ll be sharing in a separate post. As for the upcoming Mediterranean cruise, my ancestors came from Italy, therefore going back to your roots is humbling and awe inspiring.

Why should ICELAND be on your travel bucket list? Here are just a few reasons: The Northern lights, Iceland’s geysers, volcanos, and the most breathtaking sight of all may be seeing the steam rise from the legendary , Blue Lagoon which is naturally heated, 100-degree fountain of youth, due to its mineral-rich turquoise waters. The sulfur- and silica-rich water is known for its natural, age-defying healing powers. Heavenly.

Iceland might be almost at the top of the world, just below the Arctic Circle, but its winter temperatures are often warmer than those in New York (and it’s only a 5-hour plane ride from New York, too.

One of its natural wonders, the Northern lights is so magical. I’m sure pictures don’t do it justice. There are many more reasons you’ll be completely enchanted on a visit to Iceland. So packing your fur coat is a must but take a gander at this unique little island country.

The Great Wall of CHINA is a sight to behold ! This centuries-old structure is the longest ever built by man at Mutianyu. It’s not the closest stretch nearest to Beijing, but I hear it’s less touristy and comes complete with a cable car that will give you a lift to the top, where you can overlook the Chinese empire. *Fun Tip–Between Towers 5 and 6, you’ll find a speedy toboggan ride back to the entrance. Anyone up for that ?

SANTORINI is a sight everyone should behold ! You don’t need a romantic occasion to visit the Greek islands. Santorini’s sunsets are perfect for honeymoons or anniversaries. Tip: Plan ahead to arrange a table at La Maison, a cliffside restaurant in the tiny village of Imerovigli. The view is nothing short of magnificent. The colors of the sky reflect off the gorgeous white buildings as you sip the local wine. So many places to visit ! We must get a move on.

One resource I’ve found that helps me over and over with not only deciding which places to visit, but the best deals, discounts, reviews, and information is TripAdvisor. Take a peak. It’s my go-to before I make a travel decision.
