A Very Important Wish for all the Mothers out there…

Mothers believe in us more than we believe in ourselves ! They do more, worry more, and pray more about us than we’ll ever know. No matter how old we get, or how our lives change through the years, or distance separates us, there will always be that bond that never fades. It’s built in.

I am a mother and grandmother to some of the best individuals I know, some very little and some much taller than me. It fills my heart to know that they are are thriving and becoming terrific people.

Mom, as I look back on my childhood, I see that you sacrificed a great deal so we would have the things we need. You stopped working a job and gave up your singing career selflessly, so you could be there for the four of us. I didn’t grasp this as a child and was so self centered. I took so much for granted back then, and didn’t appreciate your time and faith along with the lessons and your unconditional love.

They say youth is wasted on the young and this in fact has truth to it. We don’t see the clear picture until we reach adulthood, and sometimes not until we have children of our own. That part is so sad. I know I didn’t express these thoughts in the ” living years ” enough. The ” I love you-s ” that go unsaid, the long hugs that should have been there more often, were neglected. I thought that is was known and therefore unspoken. I also believed we’d have so much more time.

You were our cheerleader when we did something good, even if it was as simple as learning how to dress ourselves or make a sandwich. You listened when we came to you with our problems and tears, and gave advice that we didn’t always take unfortunately. We knew better or so we thought !

Now that you’re gone from this world, I take the lessons and try to instill them into the next generation, and the next, now that I’m a grandmother. A tear comes to my eye as I wished you saw these children and could spend time with them. They missed seeing a legend.

For all the Daughters and Sons out there, enjoy what you have right in front of you. Do not take for granted one little bit these precious moments with your Mom that go by so quickly. There will never be another like her and one that has your back as much as her !
